Cap-Haitien have managed to retain the charms of yesteryear with its poignant history and the architectural legacy left by the French, despite being nearly destroyed by an earthquake in 1842.\n\nCap-Haitien has witnessed some of the most crucial moments in Haiti's fight for independence, which included,the famous Batailles de Vertieres; The last battle for Haitian Independence on November 18, 1803. The decisive freedom blow and a major loss for the French Army. Over 200.000 french soldiers got killed in the City of Cap Haitien, during the Haitian revolution.
